By Press Trust of IndiaAt least four coal thieves were killed and two injured in a shootout with CISF personnel in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm in the area of the Denidih coal mine in Baghmara police station in the district, about 200 km from the capital Ranchi, they said.
“The CISF personnel on duty tried to stop the coal thieves, who had gathered in large numbers. However, when they attacked the Jawans, a firefight broke out in retaliation,” Dhanbad SP (Rural) Reeshma Ramesan told PTI.
Four coal thieves have been killed and two sustained injuries, which are being treated in hospital, she said.
