5 Indian youths to watch in IPL 2022
The IPL news for 2022 starts on March 26, where 70 matches will be played across four venues in Maharashtra. While the IPL schedule has yet to be officially announced, all 10 teams will be divided into two groups under the new format.
During the IPL 2022 mega sale, many players made a fortune for themselves by making lucrative contracts during the two-day event in Bengaluru. They include both seasoned and uncapped players. However, there are a few young people who could have a huge impact in this year’s IPL. Without further ado, here’s a look at the five of them.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled the individual IPL points table by winning the IPL Orange Cap last season after racking up 635 runs and playing a key role in winning their fourth IPL title for CSK. He was one of the star players retained by the franchise on November 30, 2021, along with skipper MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali.
Now part of India in T20Is, last season’s IPL Emerging Player hopes to repeat his success in this year’s cash-rich event.
Avesh Khan: Avesh Khan finished as the second highest wicket taker last season behind IPL Purple Cap award winner Harshal Patel with 24 scalps from 16 matches. Despite this, he was released by the Delhi Capitals.
Avesh became the most expensive uncapped player after being bought by the newcomers Lucknow Super Giants for INR 10 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction. Now in India’s shortest format, the up-and-coming pacesetter would be more than charged to get the ball rolling in this year’s IPL.
Ishan Kishan: After being released by the Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan was bought back by the same franchise for a staggering INR 15.25 crore, making him the most expensive purchase at this year’s IPL auction. MI broke the bank and successfully surpassed everyone to bring it in.
After his astonishing 89-run knockout against Sri Lanka recently, Ishan has proved he is prepared for the challenge ahead as Mumbai clinch a record sixth IPL crown.
Venkatesh Iyer: Venkatesh Iyer played a major role in KKR reaching the finals last season. The Madhya Pradesh cricketer scored 370 runs in 10 games opening the innings and was one of the franchise’s first retentions for IPL 2022.
With a view to this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia, the southpaw is hoping to score the majority of runs and also take wickets in the 15e edition of the IPL.
Ravi Bishnoi: Ravi Bishnoi has 24 IPL scalps from 23 matches he represented Punjab Kings. After being released by the 2014 finalists, the youngster was brought in by the Lucknow Super Giants for a fee of INR 4 crore. He also made his India T20I debut in the West Indies series, finishing with three wickets from two matches.
After succeeding in gaining the trust of a new franchise, the up and coming leggie hopes to be bowling skills to the next level in IPL 2022.
