What’s the case?
Himank Bansal, an undergraduate law student, was beaten by a group of people earlier this month.
Following the incident, Himank filed a police complaint on November 11 alleging that he had been physically and sexually harassed by 15-20 individuals in his hostel room on November 1.
“They pushed and abused him by punching him in the face, beating him, kicking him in the stomach, touching his genitals and forcing him to eat certain chemicals and powders,” the FIR said.
The complaint alleged that Reva, a third-year BBA student at IBS Hyderabad, even tried to put his genitals in his mouth.
Himank claimed that the suspect “tried to tear his clothes, make him naked and kept beating him one after the other with the slogan ‘beat him till he dies’.”
After Himank filed a complaint in the case, the police registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the sections of the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act.
