Lee’s death was announced on Monday, June 27 by his co-host Jon Justice. Justice was recovering from open-heart surgery at a University of Minnesota hospital at the time of the announcement. He continued, saying:

“My best friend was Drew. I don’t need to tell you how great he was as your buddy. It goes without saying that I am devastated, and he will be sorely missed. Everyone at iHeart is grieving. We ask for your prayers for Drew’s family at this difficult time.”
