Apple has released a new software update for the Studio Display in response to reports of audio issues such as audio dropouts and choppy playback (through MacRumors). The new update, which Apple only says “solves an audio problem”is a revised version of update 15.5, and to download and install it, your Mac must be on macOS Monterey 12.4 or later.
MacRumors reported this week on a memo indicating that Apple knew something was up. In the memo, Apple apparently said the audio issues were not due to the Studio Display’s hardware, and to resolve the issues, the company recommended that customers unplug the display from power, unplug any accessories or devices. pair and then reconnect after waiting 10 seconds.
It’s not clear if this new update actually addresses the issues people have reported, though it appears to have a problem solved Parker Ortolani has had to deal with. If you still run into trouble, you can always try unplugging the display as Apple recommended — even if that’s a huge hassle.
These audio issues aren’t the only issues that impacted Apple’s $1,599 Studio Display. The display’s webcam has also been heavily criticized, and while Apple has released a fix that aims to improve things, it’s still not as good as you’d expect.
