“Ice-T”, better known as Tracy Lauren Marrow (born February 16, 1958), is an American rapper; he is also an actor, singer, producer and director. When he signed to Sire Records in 1987, he released his first album Rhyme Pays, which was considered the first hip-hop CD with an explicit content sticker.
When Rhyme $yndicate Records was founded in 2011, he produced another platinum-selling album, Power, which was named after his collective of fellow hip-hop artists known as the ‘Rhyme $yndicate’. Several more of his albums went platinum.
Ice-T was a founding member of the heavy metal band Body Count, which he debuted in the song “Body Count” from his 1991 rap album OG Original Gangster. In 1992, the band released an album of the same name.
The lyrics of Ice song T’s “Cop Killer”, in which he discusses the murder of police officers, has drawn some criticism. Priority Records later released his next solo album, Home Invasion, in February 1993 after asking for his contract with Warner Bros.
Records are terminated. Ice-T recorded two more albums in the late 1990s, after the release of Body Count’s second album, Born Dead, in 1994.
