filming Hocus pocus 2 has come to an end, and now the (hopefully not too long!) wait begins for the release of the first trailer.
The Sanderson Sisters return in the sequel, which takes place nearly thirty years after the events of the previous film, wreaking havoc in Salem, Massachusetts, in the original Disney+ series. While a specific release date has not yet been confirmed, there are indications that it will be available on Disney’s streaming service on Halloween, which is fitting given the film’s theme.
In Hocus Pocus 2, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles from the original film. The trailer has yet to be released, but we got our first look at the returning sisters, as well as a brief look at them in action, while we wait.
Adam Shankman was originally supposed to direct, but due to scheduling conflicts (caused by Shankman’s work on the Disenchanted sequel), the director’s seat was handed over to Anne Fletcher, who is now in charge of the sequel (The Proposal, 21 Dresses). † Shankman will remain involved in the production as an executive producer, and Jen D’Angelo has penned the script for the film.
Filming was completed at the end of January 2022, so unless there are unexpected setbacks, everything seems on track for the sequel that will mesmerize us later this year, as expected by the studio.
We can’t wait to see what the Sanderson Sisters have in store for us when they return in Hocus Pocus 2, so here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming sequel.
Cast of ‘Hocus Pocus 2’
Sanderson sisters Winifred, Sarah and Mary are played by Bette, Sarah and Kathy in retaliation for their roles. On May 20, 2021, the three actresses each released the official logo for Hocus Pocus 2 on their own Instagram accounts. “Sistaaaaaah! It’s been 300 years since… “However, we’re back!” Bette wrote a letter.
Sarah’s caption read, “Yes. That’s right. I’m all set. It’s necessary to run.” Amok, amok, amok, amok,” says the narrator. “People have spoken: I smell children… again,” Kathy wrote in her letter.
In the years leading up to the announcement, all three expressed an interest in returning to the show. Among the first cast members were Omri Katz in the role of Max Dennison, Thora Birch in the role of Dani, Vinessa Shaw in the role of Allisonand Doug Jones in the role of Billy Butcherson† Doug will reprise his role as a beloved zombie in the upcoming sequel, Hocus Pocus 2.
“They want to produce a movie, and they approached us and asked if we were interested, and of course we all said yes,” Bette said in an October 2020 interview with Fox 5 New York. all set.” Earlier this year, the Sanderson family reunited to raise money for Bette Midler’s charity, the New York Restoration Project, which has fueled fan interest even more in anticipation of the sequel.
Sarah announced to radio host Bruce Bozzi in May 2020 that she had “publicly accepted” to return to the show and that she will. “I think it’s something from Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and I are all very open to it,” she added. “I think Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and I are all very open to the idea.”
“I believe for a long time people talked about it as if people were actually moving on with it, but we were totally unaware of it.” Yes, that would be a really, really nice idea, and we’re in public agreement with the right people, so we’ll see what happens in the future.”
What is the plot of Hocus Pocus 2 about?
Along with the official announcement in May 2021, we got our first glimpse of the sequel’s plot, giving us a better idea of what to expect.
The first movie ended with the magic book winking, proving that it is still alive and that the witches could return… (spoiler alert)
While we don’t know much more about the sequel, it’s enough for us to know that the returning stars are splurging on it. “We looked at [the script] and I think we all thought it was really excellent,” Midler commented in November 2020 about the upcoming production.
Fear not, there’s a real musical track coming in the sequel to Hocus Pocus. I Put a Spell on You’ is performed by the sisters in the first episode. What the track will be in the sequel, on the other hand, is still up in the air – and there could be more than one.

When will Hocus Pocus 2 be released?
A specific release date hasn’t been confirmed yet… at least that’s what we believe. It was initially speculated that the sequel would be released in late 2022, following a tweet from Midler that read: “Sistaaaahs (sisters)! It’s been 300 years since the last time… But we’re back in action! #HocusPocus2 will be released in the fall of 2022.”
The release date for Hocus Pocus 2 has since been shortened by Shankman, who announced on Instagram that the film would be released on Halloween in 2022, a year after the first film. It remains to be determined whether this refers to the actual date of October 31 (which would be an appropriate one) or to the upcoming ghostly weekend.
