  • Axis Asset Management plans to exercise end-to-end control over the lifecycle of its project.
  • The past 6-8 years has seen significant activity in commercial real estate by both institutional and private investors, Axis said.

Axis Asset Management today partnered with New York-based real estate developer Tishman Speyer to develop sustainable office buildings. The partners are looking at green commercial projects in eight markets: MMR, NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

“I strongly believe that together we can create an attractive offering in this asset class. This platform shows again axis AMC as an asset manager that has been at the forefront of product innovation, providing high-quality, long-term solutions to our investors,” said Amitabh Chaudhry, MD & CEO, Ash bank.

Axis Asset Management plans to exercise end-to-end control over the lifecycle of its design, development, leasing and property management project through the partnership.

“Axis AMC creates a market-leading platform for alternatives that offers unique uncorrelated investment opportunities. While the market has products focused on rent-generating commercial assets, the Axis platform will provide a unique opportunity in the commercial asset development phase,” said Chandresh Nigam, MD & CEO at Axis AMC.

Axis AMC has invested significantly over the past five years in broadening its capabilities in alternatives. It manages over ₹4,400 crore in various businesses including real estate, private equity, structured credit, quantitative and publicly traded stocks.

“Over the past 6-8 years, there has been significant activity and deepening of secondary markets in commercial real estate through the participation of both institutional and private investors,” the company said in a statement.

Founded in 1978, Tishman Speyer is the owner, developer, operator and investment manager of real estate worldwide. It operates in countries such as the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia and builds and manages leading office, residential, life sciences and retail spaces.
