Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump revealed that the magazine’s Ayakashi Triangle manga would be moving to the Shonen Jump+ app and website, starting with the latest chapter released on April 25, 2022.

In recent months, new chapters of the Ayakashi Triangle manga have been censored or removed outright via Viz Media. Now that Viz Media is no longer the distributor, fans of the manga hope the needless and inexplicable removal of chapters of risqué content – content that subscribers paid for is a thing of the past.

Despite being spicy, Ayakashi Triangle is getting anime adaptation

Ayakashi Triangle, nicknamed AyaTri, is a Japanese fantasy rom-com manga series written and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki.

It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from June 2020 to April 2022 and has recently been ported to the Shonen Jump+ app since April 2022. In March 2022, Shueisha collected the manga chapters and published them in eight tankobon volumes.

Viz Media has licensed the manga for English release in North America, while Shueisha is publishing the series in English and Spanish for free on the Manga Plus app and website. Ayakashi Triangle has been announced to be getting an anime adaptation!

Ayakashi Triangle has a unique world environment

The story takes place in a fictional town called Omiko, located in rural Japan. Omiko is populated by “ayakashi” or “ghosts” who are invisible to most people. The only individuals who can see ayakashi possess a large amount of at least one of the two types of energies that humans possess: haku, life energy or kon, spiritual energy.

The story of Ayakashi Triangle revolves around Matsuri Kazamaki, an exorcist ninja. Most ayakashi are peaceful towards people, but there are also evil ayakashi. Clans made up of exorcist ninjas whose fortified could enabled them to perform jutsu have a responsibility to protect the public from ayakashi threats.

Matsuri’s childhood friend, Suzu Kanade, is an “ayakashi medium” plagued by evil spirits. An Ayakashi Medium is a rare type of human with an excess of haku – the energy from which ayakashi is made and as a result, Ayakashi Mediums are worshiped by the majority of ayakashi as a divine figure.

During a battle against an ayakashi where Suzu’s life is in danger, Matsuri does his best to defend her and is cursed by Shirogane, the king of the Ayakashi, and turned into a girl! Matsuri is forced to live out as a girl in public while he and Suzu deal with both kind and evil ayakashi. Things get complicated when they begin to develop romantic feelings for each other and they try to find a way to break Matsuri’s curse and return him to his original male form.

The manga boldly expresses the opinion that “love is love”

A person’s sexual orientation is one of the main themes in the series and how the romantic attraction one feels for another is independent of their gender or gender.

This is especially evident in the interactions between Matsuri and Suzu – the latter’s behavior mirrors that of someone unsure of their sexual preferences, as Suzu begins to question in several chapters whether it is acceptable for her to now be a relationship with Matsuri. that he is a girl.

Matsuri’s transformation into a girl can be seen as an allegory of being queer, as his physical transformation forces him to explore his romantic same-sex interest. In July 2020, Yabuki stated that he plans to include several “relationship triangles” in the manga beyond just romance.
