Sudhir Suri had become popular on social media and remained in the midst of controversy.

By Lalit Sharma: Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead outside a temple in Amritsar in Punjab on Friday. Shiv Sena cadres protested outside the temple when someone from the crowd shot Suri.

WHO WAS SURI?

Sudhir Suri was the chairman of the Shiv Sena from Amritsar and remained preoccupied in the midst of the controversy. During his formative years in politics, he burned effigies against terrorism and terrorists supported by Pakistan.

Later, with the rise of social media, he gained popularity and began speaking out against Khalistan and being accused of hate speech.

He was arrested in April 2020 by the Amritsar National Police for his reprehensible comments against the Tablighi Jamaat community.

Three months later, he was arrested again from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore after his video clip against women and inciting enmity between different groups went viral.

In July 2021, he was detained for the third time by Amritsar police after allegedly uploading a video on social media in which he uttered offensive words against a particular community.
