Competition on the occasion of International Mother Language Day by Punjabi Department of Punjabi University Punjab News cafe madrid
Patiala – On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, the Sahitya Sabha of the Punjabi Department of Punjabi University, Patiala conducted a two-day written general knowledge test (quiz), essay writing, beautiful writing, folk song, poetry pronunciation for the students of various departments. And art/poster making competitions were held. This event was chaired by Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Arvind. In the presidential address after the award, he said that the native language is a medium through which we can freely share our feelings and thoughts with each other. At present, Punjabi University is making plans to make science a native language, this will broaden the scope of the Punjabi language.
Responsible for Sahitya Sabha Dr. Rajinder Pal Singh Brar said that the contests and other constructive activities organized by the Sahitya Sabha build confidence and awareness among the students. Head of the department Dr. Gurmukh Singh said that in addition to achieving higher education and research, creative interests should be developed in the students, revealing the talent in them, therefore the Punjabi Department is diligently moving in this direction. This event was led by the department’s assistant professor and the competition’s lead coordinator, state award winner Dr. Rajwant Kaur Punjabi acted well.
The students participated in large numbers in these competitions. The details of the students who secured several places below them are as follows. 1st Place in Quiz Competition Manpreet Singh, 2nd Place Sarabjit Kaur and 3rd Place Rajwinder Kaur, 1st Place in Essay Writing Deepak, 2nd Place Lachmi Devi and 3rd Place Harveer Kaur, 1st Place in Beautiful Writing Manpreet Singh, 2nd Place Kamaldeep Kaur and 3rd Place Rajwinder Kaur, 1st place in painting and poster making Srishti Sharma, 2nd place Jagtar Singh and 3rd place Parminder Singh and Harjit Singh, 1st place in traditional folk song Simranjit Kaur, 2nd place Sarabjit Kaur and 3rd place Snehdeep Kaur and Jashndeep Kaur in poetry recitation First place went to Ranjit Singh, second place to Jagdeep Singh, third place to Gurjot Singh and first place to Ravinder Kaur, second place to Ramandeep Kaur and third place to Manjit Kaur in the essay writing contest.
