The Arvind Kejriwal-led government of Delhi approved Rs 271 crore to replace the decades-old pipeline in East Delhi.
By Pankaj Jain: The Delhi government has approved Rs 271 crore to replace a four-decade-old pipeline of the Bhagirathi plant in East Delhi.
The project will replace the main pipeline from Delhi’s Bhagirathi Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The decision came after a meeting with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

The pipeline’s size is nearly 20 percent extra carrying capacity to ensure water reaches every household in East Delhi.
In the Delhi Jal Board meeting in August 2013, Rs 214 crore was approved to replace the pipelines at Shahdara, Greater Kailash and Jal Vihar.
In view of the importance of the project, the national government has also allocated resources within the framework of the Central Support Fund.
