ED, tax raids on the premises of a relative of the arrested Trinamool leader in Bengal

The accused, Tapas Mondal, is said to be involved in the Bangladeshi teacher scam and allegedly provide false certificates for money, according to locals.

Several arrests have been made in recent times by central investigative agencies in the Bangladesh teacher scam (Representational)

By Dipannita Saha: The enforcement directorate raided the office of an arrested relative of Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya in Kolkata’s Salt Lake this morning. The raid lasted nearly two hours.

The property is registered under the Minerva Educational and Welfare Society and is owned by one Tapas Kumar Mondal, sources told India Today TV. The ED employees questioned people in the vicinity of the office.

Meanwhile, income tax officials raided Tapas Mondal’s home, as well as an educational institute – Kamakhya Institute of Education, and an NGO office – Kamakhaya Balak Ashram in Barasat’s Badu.

Mondal is allegedly involved in the Bangladesh teachers’ scam. According to locals, Mondal is involved in various institutions and is alleged to provide fake certificates for money.

Several arrests have been made by central investigative bodies in connection with the Bangladesh teachers’ scam, including those of former Bangladeshi minister Partha Chatterjee and another leader, Anubrata Mondal.
