Hybrid event startup Delegate Connect has been rebranded as Joyn as it rolls out its global expansion plans.
The Melbourne startup, which connects conference attendees at virtual and hybrid events on any device, raised $10 million nearly 12 months ago in a seed round to go global
Airtree Ventures led the raise with the largest seed check in fund history, backed Skip Capital, TEN13 and others
Co-founder and CEO Jordan Walsh said the rebranding comes at a pivotal time after successfully expanding into the US market.
“Technology and support, engagement, content and continuous learning. These are the pillars that define our new brand,” he said.
“We are on a mission to help organizations forge deep engagement by increasing knowledge, fostering connectivity, and enabling access to relevant content anywhere, anytime — this initiative is just the beginning of our doubling down on that mission.”
Joyn started as an internal platform for Walsh and his co-founder Jacob Thomas, and for their technical production and events company, to handle logistics such as registration, live streaming and video-on-demand hosting for large-scale events. It didn’t take long for the idea to become a white label solution for the world’s largest organizations, associations and event management companies.
In the past year, the company has more than doubled its workforce to more than 100, opening a US base alongside offices in Melbourne, London and Norway.
Walsh said it was a “really humbling experience” to look back and see what the company has become in just a few years.
“We owe our success to our customers and our teams, many of whom have been with us on this journey from day one,” he said.
“We want to be the only software platform organizations need to deliver their events, webinars and recorded content. In the coming months, we’ll be launching products that help foster connectedness and increase our customers’ engagement throughout the year.
“Our customers have been asking us to build this for a while and we are very excited to launch these products soon!”
