By India Today Web Desk: A video is going viral on social media showing a woman destroying the roadside shops of diya sellers in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow. She was angry that the local sellers had set up their shops in front of her house during the holiday season. The incident happened in Gomtinagar’s Patrakarpuram.
It has since been revealed that the woman is the daughter of former IAS officer Shankar Lal and a doctor by profession. The shopkeepers told AajTak that a woman warned them to remove their shops, but when they wouldn’t budge, she first poured water on the diyas and later broke them with sticks.
Meanwhile, the shopkeepers and local vendors argued that they set up the stalls every year and have also filed a complaint with the police.
One of them said: “Madam came in the morning and asked us to remove our stores and also poured water on our diyas and other decorative items. She went on a rampage and destroyed the diya stalls. It was all destroyed. I told her to We loaded stuff onto a vehicle and moved to another place, but she didn’t listen.’

The bazaar, which was on the road, was destroyed by the woman in a split second.
“She then brought a bat and destroyed the stalls, but no one told her a word,” said a local salesman. The shopkeepers have filed a police report.
