Fatima Sana Shaikh talks about her struggle with epilepsy and how she learned to work and live around it

Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Shaikh has revealed that she suffers from epilepsy. The actress spoke about it on social media.

By India Today Web Desk: Fatima Sana Shaikh is an active social media user. The actress, who made her Bollywood debut with Dangal, recently did an AMA [ask me anything] session with her fans. During the session, the actress made a revelation about her battle with epilepsy. The actress talked extensively about her illness and answered several questions from fans about the illness.


Fatima Sana Shaikh revealed how epilepsy affected her professionally. The actress further told how she learned to work and live around it. The actress revealed that she was training for Dangal when she was first diagnosed with epilepsy.

“Was diagnosed while I was training for Dangal. I had an episode and woke up right away in the hospital… Tab pata chala ke epilepsy name ki koi cheez hoti hai (Then I heard about a disease called epilepsy). At first I denied (five years) And now I’ve learned to embrace it, work around it and live it,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I mean, I have to go a little slow. But I can do anything. There are some strange and difficult days. That slows me down. But I’ve been lucky enough to work with people I’d love to work with. And this has not affected my passion nor have I ever compromised to do my best. In fact, it forces and drives me to work harder,” she added.


The actress further refused to share the medicines she takes for epilepsy. “I don’t want to share what medication I’m on. Because I don’t want anyone to follow my prescription, it’s not safe. You have to do what your doctor tells you,” Fatima said.

On the work front, she will next be seen in Sam Bahadur with Vicky Kaushal and Sanya Malhotra.
