Google Play Android games now available on PC in beta

Google Play Games is US Open Beta launch today, so anyone can try out a selection of Android games on PC. Google launched an initial beta version of the software on Windows PCs earlier this year, but it was limited to Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan. Today’s launch sees the extend beta service to USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.

  • Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU or equivalent
  • 4 physical CPU cores
  • 8GB RAM
  • 10 GB available storage
  • Windows administrator account
  • Hardware virtualization must be enabled
  • Compatible PC device and configuration

“We are excited to expand our platform into more markets to allow players to play their favorite games on Google Play,” said Arjun Dayal, director of Google Play Games. “As we move towards a full release, we will continue to add new features and evaluate feedback from developers and players.”

Google Play Games is separate from the work Microsoft has done to bring Android apps to Windows 11. Microsoft instead partners with Amazon and offers games and apps from Amazon’s Appstore in the latest operating system. Microsoft built an underlying Windows subsystem for Android into Windows 11, but Google created its own separate app to bring its Google Play Android games to PC.
