The season concluded with Hilde and her friends coming to an active crime scene. Where the teenage girl is stunned to see her diary has been tagged as evidence in the new case.
When the series returns with Home Before Dark season 3, it is likely that Hilde will become involved in the murder case that occurred in the small town. Hilde may be in the middle of it all next season before she knows it. Since it is a murder case, the adults would probably withhold many details of the case from the adolescent journalist.
