Hero Electric to set up ₹1200 crore EV factory in Rajasthan

Electric two-wheeler maker Hero Electric on Monday it said it will set up a Rs 1,200 crore two million units per year mega electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing hub in Rajasthan.



The company said it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government during the Invest Rajasthan summit.

According to the company, the proposed unit will be located in the Salarpur industrial region covering an area of ​​more than 170 hectares and will start production by the end of 2023.

“This mega production facility is part of our capacity expansion to drive electric vehicle adoption across India. It will enable the state to lead the shift from clean mobility solutions and promote ecological tourism practices,” said Naveen Munjal, CEO of Hero Electric.

CEO Sohinder Gill said: “Green field facility of this mega size and big budget gives us the opportunity to introduce highly energy efficient green production processes with a healthy mix of automation using robotic arms and the dexterous skills of the local craft workforce, using the clean solar energy provided by the state.”

The proposed facility will produce all current and future Hero Electric two-wheelers, Hero Electric said.
