The new owner of the microblogging site, Elon Musk, responded to Stephen King on Tuesday after suggesting he would leave Twitter if charged $20 for a blue tick verification.

By India Today Web Desk: A day after Stephen King threatened to quit Twitter if he had to pay $20 for a blue tick, the microblogging site’s new owner, Elon Musk, replied, saying, “We’ve got to pay the bills somehow! How about $8?”
American horror author Stephen King is the latest celebrity to publicly decry rumors of plans to introduce a blue tick fee on Twitter after Elon Musk took over the social media platform.
Stephen King tweeted: “$20 a month to keep my blue check? Damn they should pay me. If that gets implemented I’ll be out like Enron.”
To which Musk replied, “We have to pay the bills somehow! Twitter can’t rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?”
Musk went on to tweet, “I’ll explain the rationale in a longer form before this gets implemented. It’s the only way to beat the bots and trolls.”

Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk has said that the verification process on the platform, with a blue check mark next to the profile name, is being refreshed. Musk announced the plan in a tweet when a user said he was denied the prestigious blue tick despite a large following.
While the official details about the new verification process remain unclear, The Verge reports that the company will soon be charging users for the blue check.
The Verge report claims that Elon plans to charge $19.99 (about Rs 1,650) for the Twitter Blue subscription.
