Indians traveled 11 billion minutes and 4.5 billion kilometers in this taxi service by 2022

Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata recorded the highest number Uber rides this year, according to the
‘A Year in Review: How India Ubered in 2022’ report released by the global mobility provider company.

Indians spent 11 billion minutes traveling in Ubers and traveled 4.5 billion kilometers this year, which the company says is the distance from Earth to Neptune.

Delhi-NCR had the highest number of rides overall and also the highest number of office hour rides. The immediate neighbors Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad also chose to return to their Ubers offices, the report revealed.

Most Uber rides in India were booked between 5pm and 6pm and Saturday got the most bookings in a week. The most popular product, in terms of number of rides in India, was Uber Go (relatively cheaper car rides), followed by Uber Auto.

Plus, sweet rides were the talk of the town, or at least Uber’s talk on Oct. 22, around the Diwali festival. Because on this day in 2022, the highest number of package deliveries via Uber Connect, Uber’s delivery service, took place.

Further in terms of preferences for Uber rentals rides with multiple stops, most riders in India opted for the 2 hours and 20 kilometers package.

“Supported by rider insights and data, the report shares insights on the growing importance of ridesharing in the country and efforts to create sustainable cities for the future,” Uber added.

Indian cities ‘swing open again for business after pandemic’


Uber revealed that “in the year 2022, Indians went big again and cities reopened for business after the pandemic.”

Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata recorded the highest number of Uber rides in India this year.

No surprises that Chandigarh and Delhi were the top two cities in India in terms of fastest average road speeds, followed by Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Kochi. On the other hand, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati and Kolkata clocked the lowest average speeds on the roads this year, UberIndia revealed.

India’s top five intercity routes, according to Uber, were Mumbai – Pune, Mumbai – Nashik, Delhi – Agra, Jaipur – Chandigarh and Lucknow – Kanpur.

Uber also revealed that Delhi – Purnia, Delhi – Madhubani, Bangalore – Mumbai, Delhi – Varanasi and Delhi – Ahmedabad were the longest intercity journeys per kilometers traveled by Indians this year. Delhi to Purnia alone is a distance of more than 1300 kilometers.

Launched in 2010, the global mobility services company is now available in 123 Indian cities. In terms of the debuting cities, Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh emerged as the newcomer city with the highest number of trips.
