The biography of Vladimir Petkovic
Vladimir is a former Swiss footballer and manager. He was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was the head coach of Switzerland from 2014 to 2021. Vladimir started his football career when he was 15 years old. He joined the FK Sarajevo football team and it was through this club that he started his professional career. He moved from Yugoslavia to Switzerland in search of a better future.
He played football for 20 years as a midfielder in Switzerland, Bosnia and Slovenia. He spent most of his time in Switzerland, as well as Bellinzona, Young Boys and Sion. After retiring from football, he was manager of Italian club Lazio for two years. In 2013, he guided his club to victory in the Coppa Italia. He was named head coach of the Switzerland national team in 2014. He represented Switzerland at the UEFA EURO 2016 in France and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He also led the Swiss squad to Euro 2020 where they were drawn in Group A against Italy, Wales and Turkey. Since the appointment as head coach, the Swiss have achieved great success.

For the first time, Vladimir worked as a coach at YB in Bern in 2008. His daughter studied in Zurich. He was far removed from his family and yet his wife Ljiljana traveled to Turkey more than thirty times in one year. She also spent more time in Rome, where Vladimir led Lazio to the 2013 Serie A title. He also said that they like to travel.

Vladimir and his wife, Ljiljana, have been married for a long time and are always happy and loving with each other. They have been together for over three decades without incident or scandal. They first met in a nightclub in the summer of 1984.
At that time, Ljiljana studied English in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, and Vladimir studied law and played with Sarajevo. Ljiljana moved to Switzerland with Vladimir when he moved permanently, and Vladimir was playing for NLB team Chur 97 at the time. They married on November 21, 1987.
