Irish thriller returns with a third season? Know what the future holds

Since its premiere on Peacock, the Irish thriller-drama series Smother has been attracting a lot of attention from the American public. The show revolves around Val Ahern, mother of three daughters, whose world is turned upside down when her husband is mysteriously found dead. Since the series has already been renewed for Smother Season 3, fans are very excited about it.

Is Smother Season 3 Coming?

The full second season of the thriller-drama series premiered on April 28, 2022 to American audiences on Peacock. But for those of you waiting to hear about Smother Season 3, we have some very pleasant news. After the second season premiered on home network RTE, the show was renewed for a second season on February 27, 2022. The extension was announced via a Tweet from the network’s official address.

So fans of the show are looking forward to 2023 for its third season. On the other hand, cast member Dean Fagan spoke about the second season during a conversation about Q102 Breakfast. He stated: “I’m about to fly to the west of Ireland to film some more. Not sure if I should have said that?” Unfortunately, there are no updates on the release date for the third season yet.

Smother Season 3: Expected Storyline!

Most of Smother’s second season focused on Aherns’ turbulent journey. The family was clearly in danger and they didn’t know who to trust. The finale of the first season was a gripping one. In the final episode, we see Val finally confronting Finn about his actions. The matriarch tells Finn what happened on Denis’ dying night, along with Elaine. The resulting turmoil and Finn’s subsequent injuries add to an intriguing Season 3 plot.

When the show returns with Smother Season 3, it will pick up the story after the events of the first season. We’ll see Grace on her trip to London, because she’s had enough of the drama. Meanwhile, the season will also reveal the whole truth about Denis’ death. Finn is furious at his ordeal, despite the honesty of the Ahern family. Given everything that could happen in the next season, it will be very difficult for fans to patiently wait for Smother Season 3.

Who will appear in Smother Season 3?

The Irish thriller series features Dervla Kirwan in the lead role of Val Ahern, Gemma-Leah Devereux as Anna, Seána Kerslake as Grace and Niamh Walsh as Jenny. In addition, Justine Mitchell stars as Elaine Lynch, Dean Fagan plays Finn Ahern. And Conor Mullen appears as Frank Ahern.
