Shuukan Young Jump’s rom-com series Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible is finally getting an English manga publication. The series is available as a simulpub on Viz’s Manga Plus app. But now fans can add the first volume to their collection!

The first part is now for sale from See the media website and can be purchased digitally or in paperback format from retailers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Fans can too pre-order the second part which will be released on July 5, 2022.

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible – or Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai in Japanese – was created in 2019 by manga artist Nene Yukimori and serialized in Shuukan Young Jump, a weekly manga publication aimed at an older teen and adult audience. .

Young Jump is currently serializing other works such as Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – a popular anime of which is currently airing its second season – Terra Formars and Kingdom, which has been running since 2006.

What is the Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible plot?

He is invisible to most of Junta Shiraishi’s classmates. His teacher leaves assignments on his desk, assuming he is absent. His peers often accidentally sit on him, without noticing him beforehand. And when he’s rewarded for perfect attendance, everyone will be scratching their heads.

The only one who notices him is Nagisa Kubo, a girl in his class who seems to see everything he does, including the things he searches on his phone. Aware of her classmate’s inability to notice Shiraishi, Kubo is perplexed. She chases him to reveal herself, which Shiraishi nervously agrees to. Because he was invisible for so long, he doesn’t know how to handle the attention.

In a slice-of-life format, the series follows the two: shy, self-assured Shiraishi and the bubbly, outgoing Kubo. Determined to help Shiraishi get noticed by his class, Kubo resorts to humorous antics to change his role from a background crowd character to the main character.

Will there be a Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible anime adaptation?

Recently, there has been speculation that Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible will get an anime adaptation. So far, no studio has confirmed the rumor. And the website reportedly bought by the production team remains unused.

On the one hand, Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai would make for a successful anime given the popularity of its Young Jump peer, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, or even Aharen-san wa Hakarenai which shares similar story beats. There’s no shortage of rom-com anime, and Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible would be a great addition.

That said, the source cited by many on Twitter is a “trustworthy weibo user” who has just as much credibility as “my friend told me that”. For now, it’s best to take any speculation with a grain of salt. Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible would certainly make for a fun anime, but do studios agree? That remains to be seen.
