Mozzy Do was charged with a year in prison for possession of weapons

On July 28, Mozzy surrendered to authorities and was sentenced to a year in prison on a federal gun charge resulting from a traffic dispute in January 2021. The rapper said in a statement:

“Life comes at you quickly. Sometimes something happens and you have to accept the offer. It’s getting dirty in here. I appreciate my family. Chest out, chin up. “I adore you the most.”

Mozzy, aka Timothy Cornell Patterson, pleaded guilty to the gun charges in January 2022 and was denied probation by his counsel. Patterson is expected to be released from prison on July 23, 2023.

Timothy’s last sentence is the result of a federal gun charge stemming from a traffic stop in Culver City, California, last January. Police officers stopped Patterson and searched his car and discovered a Glock 26 pistol, 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition and some marijuana. Officers arrested him at the scene, but he was later released on bail.

Patterson sent a letter to a local court after his sentence, stating:

“This case has taught me that everything I have done and made can be destroyed by a single mistake or error of judgment.” ‘A misstep can prevent a fall’, I once read. This was, I think, my stumbling block’, which kept me from falling. I think I needed something like that to give my life a little more order.”

Mozzy started rapping at the age of 16 and released his debut song U Ain’t Really Like ‘Dat in 2010 under the alias Lil Tim. In August 2016, he released Lil Timothy N Thingz, a compilation of songs he recorded in 2008. while still known as Lil Tim. The 35-year-old Sacramento native previously recorded mixtapes such as Bladadah before releasing his debut solo mixtape Money Means Mozzy in 2011. In 2016, he released his first album, Gang Related Siblings, and his subsequent mixtape, Mandatory Check, topped the Billboard Rap Albums list.

On his third album, Goonbody Embodiment, he collaborated with rapper Philthy Rich, and he was featured on YG’s track, City Mad, as well as Nef the Pharaoh’s album, Neffy Got Wings. Beyond Bulletproof, his fourth album was released in May 2020, followed by Occupational Hazard in October 2020.

Patterson’s debut single, Bompton to Oak Park, was released in 2021, followed by an album, Kommunity Service. Untreatment Trauma, his sixth studio album, was released in September 2021. In February 2022, he signed a deal with CMG and Interscope Records.
