In 1995, she made her soap opera on ABC’s “One Life to Live”, as Kelly Cramer. After six years on the show, in April 2001, she announced that she would not renew her contract with the soap. She returned to daytime television in July 2004 in CBS’s “Guiding Light” as Dinah Marler.
Her list of guest stars includes appearing in “Fastlane” as Gabriella in 2003, “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” as Officer Kristen Vaill in 2005 and “The Sopranos” as Catherine Lipman in 2006. She appeared from 2009 to 2010 in the web series, “Venice: The Series”, as Sami Nelson. In 2009, after CBS’s “Guiding Light” was canceled, she returned to “One Life to Live” as Kelly Cramer and remained until it was canceled in 2011. On May 22, 2014, it was announced that she would replace Michelle Stafford on CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” as Phyllis Summers.

In the past, she has been in a relationship with Tom Pelphrey and Mark Derwin. On November 21, 2007, she became engaged to insurance professional Joseph Chiarello. They were introduced by Gina’s former co-star, Beth Ehlers, and have been married since May 16, 2009. Joseph is the president of a corporate insurance program for the firearms industry Joseph Chiarello & Co. Inc.
