Early life and family
Molly Line was born on January 31, 1977 in West Virginia, USA. Not much information is known about her family, other than a photo she had with her mother that she posted to her Twitter account when she greeted her on Mother’s Day in 2019.
She graduated from Tucker County High School in Hambleton, West Virginia in 1995. She graduated in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and political science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Molly competed in the Miss West Virginia beauty pageant four times, the first time in 1995 as Miss Tucker County, the second time in 1997 as Miss Greater Bluefield Area in which she placed as one of the top ten semifinalists, the third time in 1999. as Miss Canaan Valley, and most recently in 2000 as Miss Rhododendron in which she won the Miss Preliminary Talent Award and placed third in Miss West Virginia.
Her career as a journalist began when she joined the CBS affiliated TV station WDTV VHF digital channel 5 in Bridgeport, WV, from 1999 to 2000 as a photographer and reporter.
She then moved to Albany, New York State, to work for two years (2000-2002) as an anchor and reporter at the Fox-affiliated TV station, virtual channel 23 WXXA-TV.
She also spent three years as a reporter and anchor (December 2002-December 2005) at the WFXT Boston 25 Virtual Channel, a Fox-affiliated TV station licensed to Boston, Massachusetts. It was during her stay there that she covered news of the conviction of al-Quaeda member Richard Reid, who was dubbed the “shoe bomber” when he tried but failed to detonate the bomb in his shoes while on board the “plane of a flight from Paris” to Miami in December 2001.
She also covered the 2003 fire at The Station’s nightclub, which injured 230 people and killed 100, including rock band Great White guitarist Ty Longley, when the fireworks set off caused the fire to ignite and spread. The fire, intense heat, black smoke, and the throng of people all rushing to flee the place resulted in the high casualty rate; only 132 people escaped without injury, but suffered psychological trauma.
Line joined Fox News Channel in January 2006 and worked as a news correspondent. She covered the arrest and extradition of Neil Entwistle for the alleged murder of his wife, Rachel, and 9-month-old baby, Lilian, in their rented home in January 2006.
He was later convicted and continues to serve his life sentence in the medium-sized prison, Old Colony Correctional Center, in Bridgeport, with no chance of parole.
She also covered the Boston Mooninite Panic in 2007.
