Netflix fires some of Tudum’s editors just a few months after launch the website that publishes news, interviews and other content from fans. Tudum is part of the company’s marketing division and includes people working on entertainment, news, lifestyle and cultural content.

Most of Tudum’s 10-member culture and trends team was fired, according to one knowledgeable person. They said the staff had not been warned about the layoffs in advance, and other employees learned that their colleagues had been fired via Twitter. Many of the writers were experienced journalists who lured Netflix from other channels, the person says. The person also claims that there is news of layoffs in other teams. Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Company told protocol there were no plans to close Tudum, calling it “a major priority for the company.”

The layoffs follow last week’s news that the streaming giant was losing subscribers for the first time in more than a decade.
