By India Today Web Desk: Ranveer Singh and S Shankar teamed up some time ago for the Hindi remake of the 2005 directorial hit Anniyan. However, the project never got off the ground. Now it looks like the two have decided to team up on a bigger project. According to a report, Shankar plans to direct Ranveer Singh in a trilogy based on the Tamil epic novel Velpari. The films are released in multiple languages to reach a wide audience.
SHANKAR TO RANVEER’S BIGGEST MOVIE EVER?
Ranveer Singh, last seen in the commercially failed Jayeshbhai Jordaar, is said to be in talks to star in Shankar’s film adaptation of the Tamil novel Velpari. The franchise will consist of three parts. The first tranche is expected to go on floors in 2023.
“Shankar aims to make the greatest pan-Indian film by putting one of the greatest superstars of our generation, superstar Ranveer Singh, at the helm of this ambitious project – a grand cinematic adaptation of the iconic Tamil epic Velpari. The novel has everything from a larger-than-life hero to incredible life lessons, to a heartbreaking love story and beautiful visual effects scenes whose scale will set the next benchmark for action goggles in India,” a source said.
ON THE WORK FRONT
Shankar, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. He is working on Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal. In the film, Ulaganayagan plays the role of an elderly freedom fighter who decides to fight corruption. Shankar is also working with Ram Charan for RC 15.
Ranveer Singh, on the other hand, will soon be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus. The actor is also working on Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by Karan Johar.
