The One Piece: Red movie is going to be one of the best movies of the Shonen franchise. The fifteenth feature film focuses not only on Shanks’ return, but also on the debut of Shanks’ daughter, Uta.
Featuring Uta promoted as the “ultimate diva” with a voice that can change the world. One of the series’ biggest voice actors has taken the opportunity to reveal crucial information about the upcoming summer release.
Mayumi Tanaka: Luffy’s Voice Actor Says One Piece: Red Filming Is Finished
Oro Japan uploaded an image of a recent interview with Mayumi Tanaka, Luffy’s voice actress. She relayed the information that ended the voice recording session for the film.
Tanaka almost spilled the beans about whether Shanks finally ran into his old apprentice again:
Several One Piece movies took the opportunity to recount important arcs from the past of the Shonen series. More recent movies took the opportunity to break new ground.
The creator Eiichiro Oda has a role in most of the movies that appear on the big screen. One Piece: Red is about to have major implications for the future of the Grand Line. This is because Shanks has not had a meeting with Luffy since the beginning of the series.
While a reunion between Luffy and Shanks in this film has yet to be confirmed, there are plenty of reasons to believe the two swashbucklers will cross paths again.

Is One Piece: Red canon in the franchise?
Without going into too much detail about the current events of the manga, the latest revelation about Luffy and its Devil Fruit throws Shanks’ early ownership of it into a whole new perspective.
In addition, he had significant influence over the five elders during the reverie, which could be an important clue to solving all these puzzles. But only if it’s included in the official canon.
It’s not inconceivable that a close relative is introduced but never mentioned again, but it’s also not something that One Piece as a whole does. Once a personality appears, fans can anticipate seeing them again (even if it’s just a minor appearance).
Until recently, most of these films featured unique plots. This was also the case in previous One Piece films. While they are stories from the series’ original creator, Eiichiro Oda, each film has been a unique, closed-off adventure that, in most cases, has not been covered in the series’ official canon.
They may appear in the anime from time to time, but it’s quite unusual for them to flesh out anything in the manga.
This may change with One Piece Film: Red, which already promises big changes in what we understand about Red-haired Shanks.
