However, the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the company reports TechCrunch.

The Quordle website now redirects to its own page on the Merriam-Webster website and Quordle creator Freddy Meyer quietly issued a statement at the top of the game’s tutorial section.

“I’m pleased to announce that Quordle has been acquired by Merriam-Webster! I can’t think of a better home for this game. Lots of new features and fun are coming, so stay tuned!” Meyer called.

After the success of worda number of imitations appeared on the market, including Quordle.

Wordle is a simple online game that offers players six chances to guess a five-letter word and provides feedback in the form of color-coded clues if they correctly predict one of the letters.

Quordle, on the other hand, builds on Wordle’s basic principle, with the exception that four five-letter words must be guessed at the same time, with nine attempts.

The tiles change color to show which guesses are correct and whether a letter is included in the word, but in a different location for each of the four words, the report said.
