By India Today Web Desk: At least five people were killed in a shooting in the US state of North Carolina on Thursday evening, Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin said. was quoted by AP. The police have informed the mayor that the suspect has been ‘locked in’.
The death toll in the incident has not yet been determined and the victims were rushed to WakeMed hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was cornered in a garage by the authorities.
Raleigh Police said they were at the shooting range and asked local residents to stay at home. Four people in a residential area were injured in the shooting. The city of Knightdale tweeted that a suspect was in custody following the shooting in the neighboring city of Raleigh.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper tweeted: “I have spoken with Mayor Baldwin and directed state law enforcement to assist in responding to the active gunman in East Raleigh. State and local officials are on the scene and working on it. to stop the shooter and protect the people. -RC.” (sic)
