Amazon’s Prime Video Will Stream New York Yankees Games For in-market customers during the 2022 Major League Baseball (MLB) season. The first game, scheduled for April 22, is between the Yankees and Cleveland Guardians. The streaming platform will broadcast a total of 21 games, 19 of which will be broadcast on Friday evening. The games are only available to Prime members in New York State, Connecticut, Northern and Central New Jersey, and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Amazon began simulcasting Yankees games on Prime Video shortly after it bought Yankees Entertainment Sports Network (YES). While this is Amazon’s third consecutive year doing so, it’s the first year this roster of Yankees games has done so. alone aired on Prime Video. This means fans will not be able to find the game on any channel, the YES network, or any other service.

MLB has gotten pretty cozy with streaming platforms lately. Peacock will broadcast a total of 18 exclusive Sunday morning baseball games in May, starting with a matchup between the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox on May 8. Apple TV+ will also stream live MLB games on Friday nights this year, starting with a match between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals on April 8. The game is an Apple TV+ exclusive, but will also be available for free to non-subscribers (they just need to download the Apple TV+ app).

Not everyone is a fan of the new union between streaming platforms and baseball. Baseball fans who have already paid for MLB TV or satellite TV probably won’t be happy paying for a new streaming service so they don’t miss a game. While games on Apple TV+ are geo-restricted and free to anyone with Internet access, it’s clearly Apple’s trick to expand the subscriber base. And with games spread across a number of different services — the baseball season is likely to get confusing this year.
