Red release date CONFIRMED! Here are the details
One Piece Film: Red is the fifteenth One Piece film and fans seem to be quite excited about it. Announced during the celebration of the 1000th episode of One Piece, One Piece Film: Red is now in development phase.
For a number of factors, 2022 looked set to be the year for another One Piece movie. The release of the previous One Piece movies shows that there is a clear pattern to the series’ release schedule.

One Piece Film: Strong World was released in 2009 and was followed by One Piece Film: Z, which was released just three years later in 2012. One Piece Film: Gold was released in 2016, four years after the first film, and One Piece: Stampede came out in 2019, just three years after the second film.
Given that the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is set to take place in 2022, it seemed pretty clear that a new movie would be released in honor of the event, and fans’ suspicions were confirmed on November 20, 2021. Here’s everything you need to know about the next One Piece Film: Red, which is now in production and getting everyone excited.
What is One Piece Film: Red about?

Despite the fact that the primary story of One Piece Film: Red has not yet been fully released, the short teaser that fans were treated to during the introduction of the film provided enough information to piece together the events of the film.
It looks like the Straw Hat Pirates will be attending an event, as seen in previous One Piece movies. This time it seems to be a music festival which is the intended destination.
Working with the Film Red crew, Eiichiro Oda expressed his desire to have a major role played by a female character in the film, and this lady has flaming red hair and appears to be a resident of Sky Island according to various reports.
According to the main image, she is also a singer as her voice is described as “omnipotent” throughout the clip. Speaking of red hair, the enigmatic Redhead Shanks will soon be appearing in a movie for the first time.
It was eventually revealed that Shanks’ scar could be seen on the D in the title logo, and director Eiichiro Oda stated that Shanks will appear later in the film. While it looks like the red-haired girl is linked with Shanks, fans will have to wait to find out what kind of relationship they really have with each other.
Who’s working on One Piece Film: Red?

One of the most frequently asked questions from One Piece fans when it comes to a One Piece movie is whether Oda will be appearing in it or not. It was previously announced that Eiichiro Oda will get a role in One Piece Film: Red, as previously reported.
He has already been announced as the producer of the film and as the supervisor of the film. Despite Oda’s mentoring numerous One Piece films in the past, this is only the second time he’s taken on the producer role after One Piece Film: Strong World.
According to the crew members working on One Piece Film: Red, Eiichiro Oda’s involvement with the film is more than ever before and even surpasses his involvement with Strong World, which was released earlier.
With the exception of Oda, the rest of the One Piece Film: Red crew is undoubtedly great. The film is directed by Goro Taniguchi, who also stars in it. Taniguchi has previously worked extensively on the Code Geass series, most recently acting as a director and storyboard artist for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection, which was released in 2015.

Taniguchi, it turns out, is no stranger to Eiichiro Oda’s universe, having previously worked on the very first One Piece special, “One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak,” among other projects.
Tsutomu Kuroiwa is the writer for One Piece Film: Red, and he has previously worked on One Piece Film: Gold and its special One Piece: Heart of Gold, as well as other One Piece films.
The rest of the cast and crew for the film have not yet been announced. A sneak preview of the character designs for the film was released during Jump Festa 2022, and it looks like Masayuki Sato is once again in charge of the project.
Toei Animation is undoubtedly going to bring the best of its collaborators to Film Red, and there’s no doubt that the film will look incredibly stunning as a result.

Is One Piece Movie: Red Canon?

Given that Oda’s involvement in a One Piece movie is more important than ever, it’s no surprise that fans are wondering whether Film Red is canon or non-canon. In other words
One Piece Film: Red is not a canonical work. At the time, Eiichiro Oda preferred to cover the main story in his manga, meaning that the movies are just for the enjoyment of the fans and have no link to the main storyline.
However, this does not rule out the possibility that Film Red would contain fragments of large scenes from the One Piece canon. Several months before the manga version of One Piece: Stampede was published, the character “Laugh Tale” was given the name “Final Island”.
At the same time, a short dialogue between Roger and Rayleigh was included in this film, and this exchange eventually became part of Chapter 968 months after it was originally released.
Given that Shanks will be featured in One Piece Film: Red, fans might expect a similar situation in this film. It’s entirely possible that Oda will provide the film crew with clumps of material from the One Piece canon for them to include in the script.
When is One Piece Film: Red coming out?

The movie One Piece: Red will be released in Japan on August 6, 2022, according to the official website. There is currently no information available regarding the worldwide release date of the film.
Fans hope the film’s worldwide distribution won’t lag too far behind its initial release, as was the case with previous films such as One Piece: Stampede and the films that preceded it.
Nevertheless, One Piece is celebrating its 25th anniversary in grand style, and with the involvement of Oda and an incredible team to bring its vision to life, as well as the appearance of some of the series’ most beloved characters, such as Shanks, it is possibly Film Red will be the best movie ever.
