He co-created the FX comedy series “Reservation Dogs” with Sterlin Harjo, which has just been renewed for a second season.

‘Reservation Dogs’ tells the story of four Native American teens who live on a reservation in rural Oklahoma and call themselves the Rez Dogs: Elora Danan Postoak, Bear Smallhill, Cheese and Willie Jack.

Who’s returning for a second season of Reservation Dogs?

Elora, Beer, Cheese and Willie Jack are likely to return for Season 2, but the cast hasn’t been officially announced yet.

At the end of Season 1, Elora, Beer, Cheese, and Willie Jack find themselves at a fork in the path. When Willie Jack says she doesn’t want to go to California after all, the other members of the group, especially Elora and Bear, disagree.

Elora and Jackie (Elva Guerra), the head of their rival gang, decide to move to California instead, further dividing the Rez Dogs in Season 2.

Bear’s estranged father, Punkin Lusty (Sten Joddi), could potentially make an appearance. In an interview with TVLine, Woon-A-Tai revealed his thoughts on his character, possibly hearing from his father in the future season: “I’m confident we will if I’m accurate. Is Punkin likely to visit Oklahoma? No, I do not think so.

If the reservation dogs fly to California, I’m not sure Bear wants to see his dad. What is Punkin’s fate in the future? That’s something I can understand well. Honestly, I don’t know what the authors are going to come up with!” However, it is unknown if Jodi would return to the project in the future.

“Reservation Dogs” was renewed for a second season in early September and will air sometime in 2022, according to the show’s renewal schedule.

Taika Waititi initially revealed the new show in 2019 when he tweeted about it, and the first season will air in August 2021, according to the official release date.

We still have a few months until Season 2, though, although we wouldn’t be shocked if it premiered next summer at the earliest.
