By India Today Web Desk: Moscow is poised to resume gas supply to Europe through a connection of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline under the Baltic Sea, President Vladimir Putin said, though Berlin was quick to decline the offer, Associated Press news agency reported. Putin also said Russia could increase the capacity of its gas exports to Turkey.

German officials claimed that Russia had stopped deliveries via Nord Stream 1 as a political gamble and questioned why deliveries via Nord Stream 2 would be more reliable.

At an energy forum in Moscow, Putin again claimed that the US was likely behind the explosions that tore through the two connections of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline and one of the two connections of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The explosion caused a massive gas leak and has taken the pipes out of service.

“The sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines is an act of international terrorism, with the aim of undermining the energy security of the entire continent,” Putin said on Twitter on the official account of the Russian embassy. UK.

The US had previously rejected similar allegations from Putin.

As Russia continues to pump gas to Europe via Ukraine, the explosions exacerbated the acute energy shortages facing Europe before the winter.

The Nord Stream 2 pipeline has never transported natural gas to Europe since Germany prevented the flows from starting just before Russia launched its military action in Ukraine on Feb. 24.

The plunging of Russia’s gas supplies sent prices soaring, fueling inflation, pressured governments to ease the pain of skyrocketing energy bills for households and businesses, and heightened fears of rationing and recession, the AP reported.
