If you’ve been paying attention to the latest Sonos rumours, then you already know about the upcoming “Ray” soundbar and are planning to launch a voice assistant that prioritizes speed and privacy. While we wait for official confirmation on this, you can add one more rumor to the list: posters on the Sonos subreddit have reason to believe they will see new colors of the Sonos Roam speaker this week.
Emails sent to subscribers said “something colorful” is on the way with the countdown. Any doubt about what that something might be was eliminated once posters noticed that the URL in the email contained “roamcolors_teaser_owners”.
We’ve seen expanded colors from Sonos arrive with limited edition releases for the One and Play:1 speakers, but those also added a little extra to the price. The Roam has already received a price increase from $10 to $179, as Sonos adjusted prices for its lineup last year, saying it was due to supply chain issues.
Assuming the URL wasn’t an incredibly clever deception, Sonos customers will soon find out if they can grab the pocketable (and sometimes mic-less) Roam speaker in colors other than the standard black and white.
