By India Today Web Desk: A SpiceJet flight landed safely at Hyderabad airport on Wednesday evening after smoke was detected in the cabin during its descent.
There were 86 passengers on board the flight from Goa to Hyderabad. After landing, the passengers disembarked via the emergency exit.
“A SpiceJet Q400 aircraft operating from Goa to Hyderabad landed safely at its destination on Oct. 12 after smoke was detected in the cabin during descent. Passengers were able to disembark safely,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said.
As many as nine flights were diverted Wednesday night after the incident around 11 p.m., a Hyderabad airport official said.
SpiceJet has recently faced operational and financial headwinds and is already under increased scrutiny by the Directorate-General for Civil Aviation (DGCA). The regulator had also instructed the airline to operate only 50 percent of its total flights until October 29.
