SpiceJet flight makes another emergency landing – sixth incident in 3 months

  • SpiceJet planes flying from Delhi to Dubai made a emergency landing at Karachi airport due to a technical failure, today.
  • The airline has arranged another plane from Mumbai to pick up the passengers at Karachi airport and take them to Dubai at 1:30 PM
  • This is the sixth incident for the airline in the past three months.

SpiceJet SG-11 flight, flying from Delhi to Dubai, made an emergency landing in Karachi (Pakistan) after developing a technical malfunction. However, according to news agency ANI, all passengers on board are safe.

The airline has arranged another plane from Mumbai to pick up the passengers at Karachi airport and take them to Dubai at 1:30 PM

“On July 5, 2022, the SpiceJet B737 aircraft on flight SG-11 (Delhi-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to a faulty indicator light. The plane landed safely in Karachi and the passengers were able to disembark safely. No state of emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing. There was no previous report of a malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments,” said a SpiceJet
officially

This is the sixth incident for the airline in the past three months. Just a few days ago, on July 2, a Jabalpur-bound SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing at Delhi airport after smoke was discovered in the cabin while flying at an altitude of 5,000 feet. Still, all passengers were safe.

The frequency of SpiceJet ‘security incidents’ has become a concern. On June 19 alone, two incidents were reported: a flight to Delhi carrying more than 185 passengers caught fire shortly after takeoff from Patna airport and had to make an emergency landing. The airline clarified that a bird strike had damaged their fan blades.

In the month of May, SpiceJet finished second in terms of flight cancellations, according to a report by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The infamous top spot is occupied by the Gurugram-based Fly Big airline.
