A car driver assaulted a 21-year-old student and dragged her by the vehicle in Maharashtra’s Thane on Friday.

By India Today Web Desk: A 21-year-old woman was molested by an auto-rickshaw driver in Maharashtra’s Thane early in the morning of Friday, October 14. The woman was also dragged with the vehicle, police officials said.
The incident happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The victim is a college student and she was on her way to college when the accused harassed her. According to senior inspector Jairaj Ranaware, the car driver made some comments about her. When the woman questioned him, he grabbed her hand and pulled her away
The police officer added that the woman grabbed him when the suspect tried to leave, even as he started to drive the tricycle.

According to CCTV footage, the woman was dragged with the vehicle for about 500 meters. She then fell and the suspect fled.
A complaint was registered under Section 354 and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code against the car driver, the senior inspector said.

The police officer added that the car driver is still at large and teams have been formed to track down the auto rickshaw driver.
