Tata Motors buys 921 e-bus contract from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation

Tata Motors on Thursday secured an order to supply 921 electric buses to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

Tata Motors will supply, operate and maintain the 12-meter Tata Starbus for a period of 12 years, according to the contract.

Tata Starbus is an autonomously developed vehicle designed for sustainable and comfortable travel.

G. Sathyavathi, Managing Director of BMTC, said: “This order is paramount to Bengaluru’s growing need for clean and sustainable urban mass mobility. BMTC is pleased to introduce modern electric buses that will attract maximum number of passengers for environmentally friendly public transport.”

This is the third largest order Tata Motors has received from a state government in the past month. Tata Motors previously received orders for 1,500 electric buses from Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and 1,180 electric buses from West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC).
