A teenager died and a 50-year-old man was seriously injured after an explosion at an illegal fireworks unit in Panskura in East Menipur district of West Bengal.

Police said the license to run the firecracker had expired two years ago.
By Suryagni Roy: A 16-year-old boy died and a 50-year-old man was seriously injured after an explosion at an illegal fireworks unit in Panskura in West Bengal district, East Medinipur.
Police said an explosion was reported at Srikanta Bhakta’s house in Sadhupota village below Panskura Police Station. According to police sources, it was an illegal fireworks unit in Panshkura, according to a preliminary investigation.

The 16-year-old deceased has been identified as Pradip Samanta, while the injured 50-year-old man has been identified as Swarnalata Bhakta.
Police said Srikanta Bhakta had a permit to operate the unit until two years ago, but he ran the factory without renewing the permit to make fireworks.
Police said the license to run the firecracker had expired two years ago.
