US-founded global investment firm and accelerator program Techstars settles in Sydney’s Tech Central as a major boost to the local startup sector

Techstars has invested in more than 3,000 early-stage startups throughout its 16-year history and is one of the largest pre-seed investors in the world. In Sydney, it provides access to capital, one-on-one mentorship and programming for budding entrepreneurs at Tech Central.

The startups Techstars has supported have collectively raised $23.7 billion in capital and now have a combined market capitalization of approximately $100 billion.

The accelerator alumni include Chainalysis, ClassPass, SendGrid, and Zipline.

NSW Minister for Business, Investment and Trade Alister Henskens said securing Techstars would strengthen Tech Central as a global innovation hub, with greater support for global and local accelerators and incubators to follow later in the year.

Applications for the Techstars Tech Central Sydney Accelerator are now open, with a focus on early-stage and early-stage founders building companies in AI, fintech, advanced manufacturing, cloud computing, robotics, cybersecurity, quantum computing, creative technology and climate technology.

Techstars CEO Mäelle Gavet said the company believes anyone, anywhere, can be a world-changing entrepreneur.

“From our location in Tech Central, founders have the opportunity to participate in an accelerator program that builds on their entrepreneurial skills, helps them find a product that fits the market, and discovers innovative solutions that can have a lasting impact on the entire community,” he said. .
