The Supreme Court dealt a major blow to the SGPC and rejected the request for review on the Haryana Commission issue
The Supreme Court on Saturday dealt a serious blow to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. The court rejected the request for review filed by SGPC regarding the arrangement of the management committee of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara. The court upheld the decision to recognize the 2014 HSGPC law. By law, a separate committee was set up to manage the arrangements of gurdwaras in the state.

In 2014, the Supreme Court ruled on a written petition filed by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Harbhajan Singh. The Supreme Court rejected the claim that the Haryana government wanted to take over the Gurdwaras led by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

In the year 2019, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Commission also filed a petition against this law. The petitioner challenged the Haryana law arguing that the state legislature did not have the power to establish an institution for the administration of gurdwara, which was a power reserved for the parliament.
