If your internet overlaps with mine even slightly, you’ve seen a Cesca chair (aka a B32). The cane and chrome cane chair is everywhere: in trendy homes, in movies and in TV shows, even tattooed on people’s bodies. But Instagram’s favorite chair isn’t exactly new.
It was designed almost 100 years ago by an architect named Marcel Breuerwhile he was a student at the Bauhaus, the famous german art school† This somewhat modest two-legged chair is the realization of a manifesto of utopian ideals about design and functionality. So perhaps it’s no surprise that it has somehow remained fashionable for decades: it’s a design icon. And just a very very nice chair.
