Blink-182’s drummer, Travis Barker (born November 14, 1975), is an American musician and songwriter. In addition to his solo work, he has worked with several musicians in the hip-hop scene, including members of the rap rock band Transplants, the bands +44 and Box Car Racer, as well as Antemasque and Goldfinger.

TRV$DJAM was the brainchild of Barker and the late DJ AM, with whom he collaborated extensively. Rolling Stone calls him “punk’s first celebrity drummer” and one of the 100 greatest drummers of all time due to his fame.

Growing up in Fontana, California, Barker picked up the drums from an early age. Blink-182 became a mainstream hit with Enema of the State in 1998 after he left The Aquabats to join the band in 1996 (1999). Throughout his career, Barker has proven to be a versatile drummer, contributing to projects in a wide variety of musical genres, including hip-hop, rock, pop, and country. Meet the Barkers, a reality show on MTV, was also on his resume.

A year after his jet crashed, he emerged to record his debut solo album, Give the Drummer Some, which was released in 2011. While collaborating with rappers such as Yelawolf, Asher Roth and Nottz, as well as rock bands such as Blink-182 and the Transplants, he has continued to record extended plays.

early Life and education

Travis Barker was born on November 14, 1975 in Fontana, California. In addition to his mother Gloria and father Randy, he has two older sisters. His mother got Barker a drum kit when he was four, and he started taking lessons the following year.

After learning to play the trumpet in high school (and briefly joined a choir in high school), Travis also took piano and trumpet lessons. He considered pursuing a career as a professional surfer or skateboarder, but ultimately decided that drumming was the biggest outlet for his creativity.

Barker lost his mother to Sjögren’s disease just days before his first day of high school. After graduating from Fontana High School, Travis became a drummer in the marching band and jazz band.
