The first season of the British thriller-drama series The Undeclared War premiered on Channel 4 in July 2022. As exciting as the show’s first season was, the ending left viewers with some unanswered questions. So let’s discuss what happened at the end of the first season of The Undeclared War.
The end of the undeclared war declared!
The undeclared war ended by stunning fans. At the same time, the season didn’t provide all the answers and left many things to the audience’s imagination, even though they answered some of the show’s most important puzzles to date. Fans now know what absolutely fake Russia’s end goal is, which can be great or unbearable for others.

At the end of the first season, GCHQ was shocked to see John Yeabsley on TV in a Russian program. On the show, he openly claimed that British intelligence had engineered an organized cyber attack on Russia. And they have deliberately deceived and harassed Russia all along. On the other hand, the talented intern Saara was shocked that John had betrayed them. Anyway, she quickly concluded that Russia had made up the broadcast because it showed him obvious grammatical errors, something the cautious John would never do.
Not long after, Russian television began reporting that Britain had targeted it at hospitals. And other important facilities in Russia to justify their “fake” hacks. The relationship between GCHQ and the US National Security Agency during the attacks has been jeopardized by the release of data. It makes everything worse. To identify the source of the leaks in a seemingly worthless set of “junk” codes, Saara visits Gabriel, a fellow GCHQ employee, at his residence.
They found something interesting in the “garbage”. It was a code for collecting and emailing GCHQ data. Saara was terrified and tried to cut off the Russians, while they were secretly watching all this on their big screen. Meanwhile, Vadim Trusov is one of the Russian people who observes it. Despite one of the Russians threateningly assure her colleagues that they already have “more than enough” information. In the end, Saara cannot completely sever ties with the FSB. And Gabriel eventually takes over. Ironically, by the time the end of The Undeclared War reaches its final seconds, war is definitely about to be declared.
