Youth and education
Randi grew up as a single child in Randalia, Iowa when her parents moved there from Sumner when she was seven. Her father owned a farm in Randalia, while her mother was a housewife – supporting Randi’s dream of becoming a famous model. She attended a local high school and a modeling school in Des Moines, which she attended twice a week. In 1968 she became Miss Iowa Model of the Year and with financial support from her parents, she moved to New York City to work as a model full-time.
She did not go to college, but rather decided to work on her modeling career, and at the age of 23 she decided to focus on acting and left modeling behind.
Career as an actress
Randi made her TV series debut in 1976, when she portrayed Margo Dale in the episode “Our Man in the Harem” of the action-crime drama series “McCloud”, starring Dennis Weaver, JD Cannon and Terry Carter and who is about a Marshal living in Taos, New Mexico – the series was nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards. In the same year, she made her film debut when she portrayed Jennie in the crime drama mystery film ‘Twin Detectives’ starring Jim and Jon Hager, which is about twin brothers who get involved in a murder.
