Jimmy Chamberlin, also known as James Joseph Chamberlin, is an American drummer and record producer. Jimmy Chamberlin Biography
Jimmy Chamberlin was born in the United States of America. Both his father and older brother Paul played clarinet and drums in jazz ensembles respectively. Chamberlin began learning to play the drums at the age of nine. Now a well-known rock drummer, his brother Paul plays in Chasing Amy’s local cover band.
At age 15, Chamberlin left home to join a string of local bands. Although Chamberlin’s early singing career was successful, his father insisted that he attend college. In 1994, Chamberlin revealed that he had been away from his family for seven years.
After about three years, Chamberlin left the touring band JP and the Cats because he had had enough and took a job building custom homes with his brother-in-law. He soon joined the Smashing Pumpkins.

Before they started performing at Chicago’s Metro, The Smashing Pumpkins were looking for a real drummer. They sounded terrible! They were repulsive. During this time, Chamberlin struggled with heroin addiction.
