early life
He was born of Paige Braswell and… Rhett Akins in Valdosta, Georgia. Tim McGraw and Brooks & Dunn were among the other singers he knew as a child. He has a younger sister on his mother’s side, while on his father’s side he has two younger half-brothers.

“I Ain’t Ready to Quit” was co-written with Jason Aldean on his 2010 album My Kinda Party, and he landed a recording contract with Big Machine Records’ Valory Music Group branch in 2011.
